Jonathan Knowles is a highly experienced branding consultant. I am based out of New York and Toronto.

My specialty is aligning brand/marketing strategy with business strategy. My talent is in combining analytical rigor with creative intuition to generate business insight and human engagement. In January 2005, the online version of BusinessWeek was kind enough to refer to me as "one of those rare financial guys who understands and appreciates marketing".

My career includes 6 years in banking, 3 years in management consulting and 10 years of brand consulting, of which 7 years have been focused on creative consulting and 3 were focused on brand measurement and valuation.

My employers have included the Bank of England, Marakon Associates, Wolff Olins, BrandEconomics and Brand Finance.

I have worked across a wide range of industries including financial services, consumer products, healthcare and technology. Major client assignments include Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Diageo, Goldfish, Medi-Flex, Merrill Lynch, Mobil, Nupremis, PacifiCare Health Systems, Russell Investment Group, Sara Lee and the World Gold Council.

As you will have seen from this site, I am a fairly prolific writer with more than 20 published articles on various aspects of branding, and contributions to the books Doubletakes (John Wiley & Sons, April 2000), and Brands: Visions & Values (John Wiley & Sons, October 2001). I am a frequent presenter at business schools and at AMA and IIR conferences.

British by nationality, I have lived in a variety of European and African countries. I have been based in the US since 1999.
